The Smart Shopping Cart provides the customer with a better all-around shopping experience. No more waiting in long lines or having to shuffle around items multiple times. The smart shopping cart is made up of a three-piece setup. 
 

First, we have he user interface, this is an interactive touchscreen LCD that displays the item name and price. Customers can scan items by using the camera that is located in the front part of the cart. The camera will also act as a removable hand-held device in order to scan heavier items.

Next, we have the scale which measures the weight of all items in the cart and acts as an anti-theft system. This is done by checking the total weight of the items inside the cart and comparing it to the expected weight of the items. If the weights are offset a warning will let customers know there is a weight error through the LCD.

The final piece of the Smart Cart is a dynamo that will recharge the battery of the system while the cart is in motion.The dynamo will be attached to a wheel on the cart, when the wheel is in motion the dynamo will generate power to recharge the system. This will allow the cart to function for longer periods of time without recharging via a wired connection.

 

The Smart Shopping Cart is cost-efficient due to the parts being easily installed and removed from any standard shopping cart. This cuts the costs having to buy a whole new cart with parts that can not be removed. If one piece is faulty it be easily removed with a new one.
